Reinforcing rings are all cut by hand and are tailored to fit your specific drums. Rings can be inserted into shells for several different reasons. If your shell thickness is thin and needs the extra stability, reinforcing rings can literally reinforce the integrity of your shell. Perhaps your shells are large and boomy and reinforcing rings would be a solution by decreasing shell vibration. Additionally, installing rings increases the thickness of the bearing edge and allows for greater customization of the shape and apex of the shell’s edges. Reinforcing rings are major part of why vintage drums sound and play the way they do. Pictured here is a 26″ bass drum with newly installed reinforcing rings. After installation, the increased size of the bearing edge allowed for a massive round-over and the new rings eliminated unwanted shell vibration. The result was a warm and controlled sound with an accentuation in low-end.
